Multiplayer / Shared worlds
One universe.
Everyone in it.
Bring friends into your Sandbox. Everyone flies their own craft in the same world, under the same physics, from the launch pad to other stars. What you see is what they see.
02 / Time warp
Warp on your own.
Sync back in.
The shared world always runs in real time, so nobody's warp speeds up or holds back anyone else. When you warp, your craft flies ahead on your own machine and the others see it as a see-through ghost. Press SYNC and your craft rejoins the shared clock in the same orbit around the body it is near.
Hosts can bring everyone back at once with SYNC EVERYONE.
03 / Playing together
Dock, chat,
ride along.
Fly to a friend's station and dock with it. Chat from flight or from the builder. Open the Players page to spectate anyone's flight. When the host allows teleporting, GO TO takes you straight to a friend, and hosts can summon players to them. Ride along as a passenger on another player's craft and ask the pilot for the controls. Craft left behind by a player who logged off can be taken over, if the host allows it.

- Chatin flight and in the builder
- Dockingwith other players' craft and stations
- Spectateany player's flight
- Ride alongas a passenger, then ask for control
04 / Between the stars
Meet up at
another star.
Interstellar travel is always available in multiplayer. Players spread across the galaxy appear on the galaxy map, and spectating works across star systems. When the host allows teleporting, GO TO and launching to another star work too. A crossing between stars runs on your machine and rejoins the shared world at SYNC.

05 / Hosting from the game
Share a world
in a minute.
Open MULTIPLAYER, choose HOST A WORLD and pick one of your Sandbox worlds. The game runs the server for you and shows a room code in the pause menu. Friends enter it under JOIN A FRIEND. No port forwarding is needed: players connect directly when their network allows it, with a relay as the fallback, and the HUD shows the route and ping.
Hosts and co-hosts set the rules: teleporting, drills, bombs, taking over abandoned craft, and cheats such as infinite fuel. They can also kick, ban, freeze and clear debris. Mods selected for the world are sent to players when they join.
Before hosting, the CONNECTION TEST checks your network, the relay and direct connections.
06 / Dedicated server
Leave it running
for days.
The dedicated server hosts a world without anyone playing on it. It needs no display or graphics card, runs on Linux x64 and ARM64, keeps rotating backups and comes back on its own under a service manager. The first player to join becomes its owner.
./RocketFoundry.Server --save "My World" --new --roomIt prints a room code to share. Add --allow-teleport, --allow-drills or --cheat fuel to set the rules, and type commands such as players, say or save while it runs. The download includes a README with tmux and systemd recipes.
Good to know
- Everyone needs the same game version as the server. Update the server with every game update.
- Multiplayer shares Sandbox worlds. Friends join by room code or address; there is no public server browser.
- Players crossing between stars fly privately until SYNC, so they cannot meet in deep space.
Questions
Is Rocket Foundry multiplayer?
Yes. Share a Sandbox world with friends: everyone flies their own craft in the same world, with chat, docking, spectating and travel to other star systems.
How do friends join?
The host shares a six-character room code from the pause menu, and friends enter it under MULTIPLAYER, JOIN A FRIEND. You can also join by address and port.
Can I run a server that stays online?
Yes. The free dedicated server runs on Linux (x64 and ARM64) without a display or graphics card, keeps backups of the world and can run for days as a service.
How many players can join?
There is no fixed player limit. Our largest test so far had ten players flying in one world at once.
What happens when someone uses time warp?
The shared world always runs in real time. A player who warps flies ahead on their own, the others see their craft as a ghost, and SYNC brings them back to the shared clock.
